By choosing a Humanist Wedding Celebrant to conduct your ceremony you can have a ceremony that is completely personal to you. There are no restrictions on venue, location or time of day. You choose your vows, and readings and music.

I will meet you both face-to-face for a coffee and a chat. I will help you define exactly the form that you would like your ceremony to take. This may be conventional, romantic, theatrical, whimsical, religious/spiritual – all your wishes will be taken completely into account.

You can hold your ceremony at any venue that you choose, on any day at any time. You can involve family members, children, even your pets in the ceremony. You can have whatever live or recorded music you like. You can have special little extras as part of your ceremony such as the lighting of candles, Hand Fasting, balloons, even doves. You can have readings and poetry that have special meaning to you. I can recommend some if you like. Also exchange the vows that you and your partner have especially written for each other.

I will work closely with you throughout your wedding preparations and a few days before we will hold a rehearsal to ensure you are both confident, relaxed and calm. A wedding celebrant is the absolute best way to have your ceremony your way.

Special Extras

The Warming of the Wedding Rings

Before the ceremony begins, your rings are placed in a little pouch. This is then passed to each guest in turn. They hold it for a few seconds while wishing you all the happiness in the world and a bright future together. It is then passed along to best man or ring bearer ready for hen you exchange your vows.

Unity Sand Ceremony

You each pour a different coloured sand from 2 small jars into the Unity Jar. The two colours mix and merge never to be separated. You make your vow never to be separated once married. You can also include other family members and children.

Hand Fasting

Hand Fasting is a beautiful ancient Celtic tradition and where the expression “tying the Knot” originates. Your hands are tied together using beautiful ribbons ( you can choose the colours). Just as your hands are tied together so are your hearts, your lives, and your families.

Wine box Love letters

A love letter exchange is so romantic. You each take time before your wedding day to write heartfelt letters, encapsulating your thoughts and feelings. You seal these in envelopes. These are then locked away in a wine box to be revealed several years into your marriage at a time of your choosing.

Dove Release

For centuries, white doves have been released at wedding ceremonies and are the perfect symbol of the bond made in matrimony. Doves mate for life. ... At the wedding ceremony, two white doves may be released by the bride and groom symbolising their union as they begin their journey together. I recommend “Angle Dove” for Dove release.

Red Rose Gifts

After your ceremony you will each exchange a red rose. This is your first gift to each other after marrying. The red rose always says I love you, so keep these roses, preserve them and perhaps sometime in your future together when words are difficult you can present these roses of love to each other.

Champagne toast

We all love bubbles. Toast each other after you sign your Marriage Certificate. The perfect way to end your ceremony and start the celebrations off in style.

First kiss and Last kiss

The first person to kiss you and welcome you into the world is your Mother. So why not invite her to give you your last kiss as a single person before you adventure forward into married life.

Unity Candle

Two candles symbolise your separate lives, separate families, in other words, your lives before your Wedding Day. Lighting the centre candle brings your flames together. Your two lives are now being joined together as one.

Please note for some of these little extras there might be a small charge to cover the cost of materials. If you provide these yourself then there is no charge at all.

How much will it cost?

The fees and all other costs of your ceremony will be agreed with you in advance.These are fixed when you book your date.
